Project Description
The New York Department of Transportation (NYDOT) used FORTA-FI to reinforce I-81, both north and south lanes, between mile markers 74.2 and 81.7. This mill and fill project included 40,000 lb. of FORTA-FI in the wearing course.
The FORTA Voyager fiber feeder was used at the asphalt plant to add the fiber to the asphalt mix with no problems. With this being a high-volume road, NYDOT chose to reinforce the interstate with FORTA-FI to reduce cracking and increase the life of the roadway.
