FORTA-FI is added through manual or automated methods. The FORTA Voyager feeder dispenses fiber at the plant through the RAP collar, calibrated to match plant production speed and specified dosage. Manual feed uses 1 lb bags placed on the RAP belt at timed intervals — e.g., 1 bag every 12 seconds at 300 tons/hr.
Most specifiers require a daily fiber feeding log and visual inspections. The Voyager feeder automatically generates and timestamps these logs. If needed, a chemical extraction can be done — Arizona State University developed guidance for determining proper dispersion from extracted samples.
