Project Description
KH Love Construction’s new office facility includes sandwich insulated tilt-up panel construction to provide precise climate control while also lowering heat and cooling demands. Owners wanted a building design utilizing concrete expressionism; from the modern, brutalist design, to board formed and exposed aggregate tilt panels, and the polished office slab, this building exhibits the many functional and aesthetic aspects of concrete.
Owners used specified FORTA-FERRO macro synthetic fibers to replace #4 @ 18” rebar. This increased the speed of construction while eliminating both wire mesh and rebar—creating a safer job site. Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC) also provided less cracking in the architectural Wythe than welded wire. While proper placement of steel reinforcement is difficult and costly, three dimensional FORTA-FERRO is always uniformly positioned.
