Project Description

A large hotel chain being erected in downtown Royal Oak, MI is a high-profile project for this city. One benefit of using fibers in this slab-on-metal-deck application was the ease of use by being able to forgo lifting wire mesh to higher floors. In addition, time and money were saved because they did not have to buy and place steel reinforcement prior to pouring the slabs. Paul Albanelli of Albanelli Cement has stated, “by using fibers we don’t have to store wire mesh and deal with the safety factors of using wire mesh.”
