11 miles of State Route 63 in NYDOT Division 4 were resurfaced using FORTA-FI® fibers in a 2” composite overlay. After 5 years of heavy traffic, the pavement remains in excellent condition.
In 2015, NY District 4 used FORTA-FI® fibers in the west bound lane of Route 383 as a cost-effective alternative to deep mill repairs. The project saved over 4 weeks of construction time and 10% in initial costs. After 7 years, the FORTAfied™ lane showed significantly fewer cracks and an 8-point higher PCI than the control side, proving improved performance and durability.
This three-part project used FORTA-FI® fibers for full-depth reclamation on I-390, a saw & sealed section on I-590 from Winton Rd to SR 31, and a 2” overlay on I-590 from I-390 to Winton Rd. After 5 years, the roadway shows minimal cracking, and inspectors noted no added benefit from the saw & seal method, recommending the direct overlay as the more efficient and cost-effective option.
