Project Description

Blythe Construction, one of the Carolina’s leaders in production of high-quality hot and warm mix asphalt, chose FORTA-FI to reinforce their parking lot in Matthews, NC. There was severe rutting where the trucks exit the scales and receive their load tickets. This section was milled 10” deep and replaced with 5” each of FORTA-FI reinforced intermediate and surface courses. This surface course combined Performance Grade asphalt and modified acrylic latex. Additionally, multiple 3” mill and fill areas utilized FORTAfied surface reinforcement courses, including the stockpile locations.

Owners were concerned standard asphalt would not withstand the stress of slow-moving fully loaded trucks. FORTA-FI was chosen over other options due to its ability to extend pavement life while withstanding severe stress.

Update: 

Blythe Construction has benefitted from dramatically decreased rutting in their weigh scale area. Seven years of heavy truck traffic has only reinforced their confidence in choosing FORTA-FI asphalt fibers.
