Improved resistance to cracking

FORTA-FI X2 is engineered for asphalt projects that need stronger, longer-lasting pavement performance. This advanced synthetic fiber blend reinforces asphalt throughout the mix, helping pavements resist cracking, rutting, raveling, and other common distresses that shorten service life.
Designed for use in new construction and rehabilitation projects, FORTA-FI X2 delivers three-dimensional reinforcement without requiring major changes to standard asphalt production or placement practices.
Asphalt pavements are exposed to constant stress from traffic loading, temperature swings, moisture, aging, and movement in underlying pavement layers. Over time, these forces can lead to fatigue cracking, reflective cracking, thermal cracking, rutting, and surface deterioration.
FORTA-FI X2 helps address these challenges by adding millions of reinforcing fibers directly into the asphalt mix. Once distributed throughout the pavement layer, the fiber network improves stress resistance and helps the pavement maintain performance longer.
FORTA-FI X2 is a para-aramid and polyolefin synthetic fiber blend formulated specifically for asphalt reinforcement. The para-aramid component provides high-strength reinforcement, while the polyolefin component supports fiber distribution during production.
Unlike surface treatments or reinforcement methods placed between pavement layers, FORTA-FI X2 is mixed directly into the asphalt. This creates reinforcement throughout the entire pavement layer, helping control distresses from within the mix itself.
FORTA-FI X2 can be used in a wide range of asphalt applications, including streets, highways, interstates, airports, industrial parking lots, and other heavily trafficked pavements.

To three-dimensionally reinforce pavements by controlling thermal, reflective, and fatigue cracking as well as reduce rutting and raveling.
Reinforcing asphalt mixes with FORTA-FI X2 offers numerous advantages, such as:
Improved resistance to cracking
Lower life cycle cost potential.
No major change to the job mix formula or construction process
Supports sustainability goals by helping pavements last longer
Provides 3-dimensional reinforcement against pavement distresses.
FORTA-FI mixes well in batch and drum plants without compromising production. The fibers are added at a rate of one (1) pound of fibers per two (2) tons of asphalt mix or one (1) pound of fibers per one (1) tons of asphalt for double dose applications. Add fiber during the production process after the flame but before introduction of the liquid AC.
For batch plants, the fibers are added either manually using pre-measured bags or with a FORTA® Delivery System. For drum plants, bags can be placed on the RAP conveyor manually or directly into the drum with a FORTA Delivery System. Ensure minimum mix production temperatures as follows: 220° F minimum for bulk fiber use; or 275°F minimum for pre-measured bags (bags may not fully dissolve below 275°F). FORTA offers several types of fiber delivery systems such as the Voyager, The Big Shot and The Little Shot. Some feeders automatically track and record the amount of fiber fed into the plant for quality assurance.
FORTA-FI X2 takes asphalt reinforcement to the next level by introducing approximately 38 million individual aramid fibers per ton of asphalt. These fibers are engineered to improve crack and rut resistance while adding additional years of pavement longevity.
In comparative performance information from FORTA, FORTA-FI X2 demonstrated higher cracking resistance than both control asphalt and standard FORTA-FI asphalt reinforcement. The result is a reinforced asphalt solution designed to keep roads performing better for longer.
Whether you are designing a new roadway, rehabilitating an aging pavement, or looking for a cost-effective way to improve long-term asphalt performance, FORTA-FI X2 provides advanced fiber reinforcement for roads that demand more.
