They are designed to carry loads, replace traditional reinforcement in non-structural applications, and minimize both early and long-term cracking. 

Macro fibers enhance concrete’s post-crack residual strength, load transfer across cracks, durability, flexural toughness, and fatigue, impact, and shear resistance.

Micro fibers are smaller — less than 1.5 inches in length — and are primarily used to control plastic shrinkage cracking in the early stages of concrete curing. While they do not provide significant load-bearing capabilities, they improve the concrete mix’s homogeneity and add some measure of durability, impact resistance, and toughness. Micro fibers are particularly effective in reducing early age cracking but are unsuitable for replacing structural reinforcement.

To get the best of both worlds, macro and micro fibers are sometimes blended to create superior concrete reinforcement solutions.
