SR 130
Date: 2012
Location: Cranbury Twp, NJ
Fiber: FORTA-FI®
Project Description
The New Jersey Department of Transportation did their pilot project using FORTA-FI synthetic fiber-reinforcement in October 2012. SR 130 between Cranbury and East Windsor Townships was selected in part due to its high traffic volume. Approximately 1,000 tons of FORTAfied® asphalt was placed in the left southbound lane and an equal section of non-reinforced material was placed in the right southbound lane. A 2” lift was placed over a 1” binder rich intermediate course (not fiber-reinforced).
Update
10 years later, the left southbound lane has limited cracking and has withstood the test of time
